Two views on specialisation

Is specialisation impossible or necessary?

View 1: Specialisation is impossible

Specialisation is impossible because organisations are dynamic and organic. They are constantly reacting and adapting to the environment. Understanding is only possible through a global awareness—to see the movement and effect of the whole while not being distracted by the mechanics of the parts.

View 2: Specialisation is necessary

Specialisation is necessary because the variety, possibility, and complexity of organisations far exceed the capacity of an individual to assimilate. Understanding is only possible by considering the parts in isolation from the whole.
